Painter, muralist. Born in Wimbledon, England on Sept. 6, 1876, Pawla came to the U.S. as a boy. At 14 he enlisted in the Navy and remained until the end of WWI. He studied art in Europe and was active in NYC before moving to Santa Barbara, CA in the 1920s. Therein he became the was the proprietor of The Tavern, a local watering hole. |
