Description |
A view of the northwest corner of State and Victoria streets showing the Arlington Hotel (1875-1909) facing State Street at right and the Arlington Annex (1887-1925) fronting Victoria Street. Both buildings were designed by architect Peter J. Barber (1830-1905). A mule-powered trolley makes the turn onto State Street with the Commercial Bank (still standing though highly remodeled) behind it. The pole with the wires in the foreground at right is one of several highly illuminating "light masts" along State Street from Victoria Street to the wharf. |
