View of a camp at Ladies Harbor on north side of Santa Cruz Island. The photograph was taken in August, 1889 when dentist and naturalist Dr. Lorenzo G. Yates chartered the sloop Brisk for a 10-day exploration of the Channel Islands. Joining Dr. Yates was photographer I.N. Cook along with his assistant Henry Jenkins, artists Henry Chapman Ford and William Ford, Mr. I. B. Hardy and Mr. William Noble and his son. Their camp at Ladies Harbor can be seen in the foreground of the photograph. |
