Description |
Three piece visiting dress of the 'shelf' bustle style in blue silver and blue silk brocade and matching blue silk taffeta. A visiting dress was used for meeting family and acquaintances during the day at a home. During this period women did not go out to lunch or dinner with other women unescorted by a male companion. Worn by donor's grandmother, Mrs. Chas Schmidlapp, Cincinnati. Restored significantly, the dress may have been rework in later years as a costume. |
