Description |
Mercedes Paula Orella (1879-1955) was the daughter of Don Bruno Francisco Orella & Maria Monica de la Merced Gonzalez de Orella. The Orella Family was one of the most prominent in Santa Barbara in the 19th century. The family came to California during the Gold Rush. They became a successful ranchering family, weathering the devastating drought of the mid-1860s. Part of the family home is now part of the old Aldo's Restaurant at 1031 State Street. |
