Description |
Virtually all buildings of the Spanish and Mexican eras were built of adobe. Adobe is a mix of soil, water and straw molded into bricks and sun-dried. A finished adobe building is coated with a mud or lime wash to protect it from erosion. The word adobe is derived from the Spanish adobar (to plaster) and was the ideal material since timber was scarce. |
